July 4th in a Pandemic

Hike

We love Independence Day around here! No big crowds and giant celebrations this year with the pandemic, but we decided to try being outdoors where we don’t need to wear masks and can get some fresh air and sunshine.

A little before 9am we joined our BFFs on this hike at Slate Canyon basically in their backyard. We are living in their basement as our house gets built, and it’s been such a fun summer being steps away from them. It’s wonderful exploring these parts of Provo with our families!

The entire valley was visible from our trail, and if we went further we could continue to hiking the Y. W led the way haha, and Tori carried baby Ivy the whole time- she’s an amazing Mama! We had a break at the middle of our “out and back” hike to sit together in the shade and enjoy breakfast sandwiches from McDonald’s that we packed.

Fireworks

The kids had a blast playing with cousins in Alyssa and Nic’s new playground and backyard. They had a slip and slide and sparklers for the holiday. I’m so glad that family is here and we’re able to spend time with them while our kids are little.

Happy Independence Day!

Love, Kat
