Kids Spotlight: Kindness, Preschool Bus, Climbing

Our cute little handymen showing me their drills!

We’ve had some family highlights I’d like to share. If anything it’s reminded me how quickly time is going. They grow so fast!! These children are all so precious to me. I could never have imagined what an adventure motherhood would be—and I’m not even near the end here! When I was young I wondered how there could be enough love to go around for every child you have, and now I’ve found that somehow your heart just grows a few sizes up and you love each one just as fiercely and just as deeply, all the same way yet all so very differently.

Student of the Month

Miss L is Student of the Month

It’s the first month of school, and my little girl was selected from her class for kindness! It was a surprise, so we got a call to come to school and they were cheered on by their classmates and loved ones as they “stampeded” throughout the halls on their mustangs (school mascot). So much fun, and L was thrilled that we showed up. She is such a thoughtful and wonderful child, we are truly blessed!

First Day Riding the Bus

F on a typical day on the bus

I miss this little guy when he goes to preschool even if it’s only two and a half hours twice a week. He’s so young and I want to make sure he gets there and comes home safely. I didn’t think I’d be ready to let him ride the bus ever, but his teacher suggested it since he was having trouble being dropped off and picked up, always wanting to get on the bus. They had a special attendant for the preschoolers to him him into his car seat and getting on and off the bus, and making sure that I am there with him before releasing him. It’s the peace of mind that I appreciate when I’m letting go of my Precious. He never stops grinning when he gets to ride the bus to or from school!

Walker’s Adventures

W’s daily climbing, crying, and eating

In his 15th month, W’s personality has been revealing itself growing by leaps and bounds. The house and everything in it is his jungle gym, and he likes to challenge himself to see what new things he can reach and get into. Lately he’s been moving boxes and other various objects to climb onto the ottomans which allows him to climb onto the couch which allows him to climb to the windowsill with my plants. We have caught him jimmying the childproofed cabinet locks with his toy screwdriver. He climbs down from higher places like beds and couches by wiggling his body carefully and calculatedly so he lands slowly and safely.

Now shopping has become a challenge because he can climb out of the little seat belt, and eventually climb out of the cart. So there I am holding baby on my front while I push the cart with all the stuff and my other kid with the other hand, and baby is still screaming in my ear as we’re trying to abort the shopping mission. It’s fun to see him get around just like all the big kids on the playground and eating PB&J’s now with his siblings.

Love,
-Kat
