Songs for Adelyn
Dearest Adelyn,
30 years old ❤️ Wow! Happy Birthday!!
I asked our loved ones to send songs that are meaningful between you, or that are super helpful in your 30s to help uplift you. I hope you enjoy your Birthday Mix and the personal notes for each song below.
1. Poems, Prayers and Promises – John Denver
From: Dad
Every time we get together with guitars on both of our hands, we always play and sing this song. This reminds me of my time together with her and the family as we get older. She likes it cause it describes the progressions of life.
2. Moon River – Audrey Hepburn
From: Joseph
It made us both cry.
3. Ain’t No Mountain High Enough – Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell
From: Lee Ann
To my first other half because no matter the distance or time that has passed, I’ll be there for you and there is no mountain high enough to stop that ☺️
4. Dawn – Dario Marianelli, Jean-Yves Thibaudet
From: Kat
When it feels like your 30s are flying by, you may want to seek the quiet and pure moments, and slow down time with a song like this one.
Imagine peace or shenanigans with the Bennet sisters, and the first time we watched this film masterpiece together on a beautiful wintry day with chicken pot pie and pastries, when I got to see you fall in love in real time.
5. For Good – Cynthia Erivo & Ariana Grande
From: Charlene
I chose this song for Adelynn because I love my sister, and her presence and influence has changed my life “for good.” ❤️
6. Count on Me – Bruno Mars
From: Jessica
Adelynn you have been with me through many things and this song shows that I can always count on you for anything and the same will always be for you! I’m here for you always in whatever you need!
7. Resurrection – Brian May
From: Wade
Our car karaoke.
8. Fly High – Ayano Tsuji
From: Wilee
For a short light hearted adventure blast to the past. You can go anywhere and do anything. Slip through the blue sky like the wind, you are no longer afraid and you can fly forever.

9. I Am Healing – Affirmabeats
From: Chalia
A song for healing. ❤️🩹 ✨❤️ It doesn’t just happen over night, and it doesn’t happen how you want it to, but it will happen eventually. This song teaches one to be patient, and helps one to accept the process of healing because it isn’t always easy or pretty.

10. Sweet Child of Mine – Guns N’ Roses
From: Uncle David
When I was 30 years old (a young man then), this famous (or rather infamous) American Rock Band was all over the radios and TVs – they were very popular then but really a BADA** band.
Known for their volatile performances, media feuds, and provocative lyrics, Guns N’ Roses cultivated a reputation as “The World’s Most Dangerous Band”. Their fusion of punk, blues, and metal helped shift late ‘80s rock away from glam rock.
Don’t let Wikipedia scare you.
The song is as harmless as a hamster.
I found a song that I would like to dedicate to my sweet Adelyn.
The first two paragraphs say it all.
Happy 30th Bday Adelyn, take care and I love you ❤️
She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I stare too long, I'd probably break down and cry
11. Boogie Oogie Oogie – A Taste of Honey
From: Lee Ann
One of my favorite songs I heard her sing growing up, especially with the family band. And her 30’s should be a disco party 🕺🏻🎉
12. Redbone – Childish Gambino
From: Joseph
I sing it well and it made her laugh and she realized I could sing.
13. Oceans – Hillsong
From: Jessica
Adelynn this song is very special to me not only because it was my first solo at church but because it shows us that no matter what life throws our way we can always look up to God and he is always there ready to guide us through those deep ocean moments. And our faith in him will always stand.
Love you and wish you the Happiest of Birthdays 💕
14. San Francisco Street – Sun Rai
From: Wilee
My favorite for an early Sunday morning drive, nowhere to go, nowhere to be. Feel the sun and warmth on your skin. You may get lost in the chaos but on the ‘San Francisco Street’, the place where you find solace and peace, you’ll find your meaning (in the song’s case a person, but for me broadly it can apply to anything you are seeking a healthy relationship in).

15. Hex Girl – Moon Sisters
From: Wade
Childhood song
16. Free Me – Anees
From: Chalia
Protect your energy! It’s ok to say no. It’s ok to do you. Set your boundaries, and keep away from toxic people. 😘
17. Go The Distance
From: Kat
I especially love this Viking version because it makes me feel like I can do anything. “Going the distance” is a fighting/boxing term for lasting the whole fight—not about winning or losing, just seeing the entire thing through. Endure for the things that matter, dear Adelyn. When you’re unsure about being strong enough to commit all the way, this song is a beautiful mix of hope and longing. Maybe it will help you feel brave, see clearer, or be ready to climb “your mountain”.
18. Anak – Freddie Aguilar
From: Mom
This song always reminds me of you when you first came out into this world.
19. Part of Your World – The Little Mermaid
From: Mom
Reminds me of an innocent time when you were really young and you started singing, and you had an interview as a child you said you wanted to be a rock star when you grow up. You sang this song in the car every time. I like to describe you as ambitious and a happy person. I hope you find happiness not just temporarily but feeling the highest happiness joy eternally. Nothing can be more important than knowing yourself and having that happiness come from inside you. I hope you’re able to learn from the past, live in the present, and let your experiences guide your future.
20. When You Believe – Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston
From: Mom
From the Prince of Egypt. It’s always just the chorus part really. Your duet with Cynthia.
21. Kaze Ni Naru – Ayano Tsuji
From: Mom
Just proud that Dad showed this to every guest in the house and I like your Japanese version of how you sing it so innocently. All the kids were into anime. It just reminds me of your childhood along with this song, being an anime artist.
Here’s the version you sing that Mom loves:
And here is the original artist:
22. Somewhere Over the Rainbow – Eva Cassidy
From: Mom
This song makes me cry every time I think of you. It’s like a dream come true song, a calming song and hopeful that there’s a rainbow overtaking all the loneliness. It reminds me of you every time, you can reach your potential- over the rainbow.
23. Butterfly Kisses – Bob Carlilse
From: Dad and Mom
It reminds me of how she’s growing up right in front of my eyes.
I’m seeing you so close to your Dad, I like your bond together also as a free spirit.
24. Fight Song – Rachel Platten
From: Charlene
This song is to encourage and remind Adelynn that despite trials and hardships, she is fearless and resilient. Her smile and small acts of kindness touched my life as well as many others 💕
25. Rather Be – Jess Glynne
From: Angel Ann
It’s the first song I remember her singing for our family and I just remember admiring her so much and I continue to do so when I see her in her element and now whenever I hear this song it reminds me of her.
26. A Million Dreams – The Greatest Showman
From: Jeremy
When I hear this song, a million dreams that I have of my marriage, work, family always come to my mind. This song inspired me (including in my 30s) in times where I’m lost, when sometimes my dreams and ideals don’t seem to match up. When I hear this song I’m inspired to try again. What makes the song special to me is these are dreams I share with my wife and she is my partner and companion. This song keeps me grounded in my idealism.
Whatever your dreams or ambitions might be, you can make them come true, too. It’s not about how fast you get there, but about enjoying the journey and when you look back on your life in times when you think you’re not making any strides that’s when you’re growing and changing the stars more than you realized.
27. Leave Tomorrow Till It Comes – The Cottars
From: William
This song helps me when I may not feel well mentally, physically or am having a hard time sleeping at night.
28. Sit Next To Me – Foster the People
From: Kat
May your future have fruitful healthy relationships that encourage the best in you, with quality people in whose presence you find peace and joy in. Keep seeking those genuine and close connections, keep being real and honest and open. True Friendships are worth it!
29. Golden – KPop Demon Hunters
From: Angel Ann
We partied and sang it for karaoke to get the mood up at Ate Lee Ann’s wedding and I just loved seeing her inner child having so much fun and we got to experience that feeling together.
30. I Love You Always Forever – Donna Lewis
From: Kat
Released the very year you were born, this song is 30 just like you!! Effortlessly cool, comforting, nostalgic, and feels like a warm hug. I dedicate it to you, and hope you never forget how much, how often, nor how long I Love You kiddo.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
