The Birthday Boy is Three!
Three years ago, a miracle was born into our family at 30 weeks old. He was a fighter who didn’t let how little he was stop him from learning and thriving. He had jet black hair and light eyes, and the nurses all swooned over how handsome he was. Even now everything he does still melts my heart. He can’t just laugh or run normally; he has to do it in the most fun and cutest way possible. Since he loves all things transportation, we got him his own Little Tikes CozyTruck for his 3rd Birthday. He loved riding around in it and even giving his baby brother a lift!
His Favorites at this age:
- Song: “Wheels on the Bus” and “Clean Up”
- Clothes: hat or sleepers with bear ears on the hood so he can pretend to growl
- Food: pasta (spaghetti, top ramen, pasta salad), and snacks (crackers, fruit snacks, bananas, cereal in a cup, fruit)
- Book: Cars! “Little Blue Truck”, “Wheels on the Bus” in all editions, sing and read books like “BINGO” and “Five Green and Speckled Frogs”
- Friend: Sister
- Passions: Cars. Cars. Oh, did I mention Cars? Occasionally trucks, buses, airplanes, and other moving vehicles.
How We Celebrated
We played outside with his new Cozy Truck and Big Sis on her scooter. He didn’t want to scoot on his own so we had to push him around haha! We made a delicious Mexican Street Corn Pasta Salad which the whole family including picky eaters scarfed down. Next night we were invited for a family dinner, so we brought pie to celebrate the Birthday Boy since he’s not fond of cake. Grandma was there, as well as cousins and family as he blew the candles out. We’d been telling him “Happy Birthday” all day but I don’t think it really sunk in until we started singing to him and he realized it was for him. He paused on his candle blowing to listen to our song, and then he huffed and puffed away most adorably. We had Dutch Apple and Strawberry Rhubarb pies, and the kids played the whole time nonstop!
He’s been having trouble getting to nap on time, which makes him irritable and whiny sometimes from being overtired—but other than that he’s the same sweet little boy of last year. He used to never give out kisses before but recently he discovered the power of kisses and now if you don’t kiss at just the right moment or well enough he demands redos. I’m a lucky mama that my cutie pie finally gives me kisses. We sure do love him!!
