White Pine Hollow Trail

This summer it feels like I haven’t been able to have enough time with Jer. Honestly no matter how much time is given, it will always feel like I want more with him haha. He will be back to work teaching this week, but trainings and meetings all leading up to it. More than anything I just wanted some peace and to slow down together out in nature where we can connect and hold hands on the trail. The forest and mountains are so beautiful and healing to us both.

We finally went past Trumbolt in our canyon so Jer could show me a trail with water crossings! There wasn’t a single soul on the trail so it was also nice to have our little dog off leash so happy to be outside and free. It seemed like we all needed this. I loved just exploring every rock and tree and babbling brook. We walked very carefully through Stinging Nettle fields. We saw evidence of tree stumps cut by beaver teeth. I got to practice keeping my balance on logs and rocks while crossing the little streams. I felt the cold water between my toes, and smelled the fresh pine filled air. Every step forward felt so new and exciting!

I’m about 6 months pregnant, so Jer was such an attentive husband making sure to try the path on the rocks first to make sure that they were not too slippery for me, pointing out where all the Stinging Nettle was so that I wouldn’t accidentally brush on it or step on it with my vulnerable water shoes, and waiting for me as I dilly-dallied wanting to take in every flower and tree haha.

Every time I go on one of these hikes just slowly exploring, I always think about how much I love living here! We only went a little over a mile and then another mile back, and the total trail is probably about 10 miles- so I hope to return when I’m more able to do a longer distance. Maybe even with the kids and our new baby? … We’ll see!

Love,
Kat
