Playground Days

Last week my husband discovered one of the most fun games—frisbee golf!—and decided to teach it to me. We packed up the kids in the morning before it got too hot, and headed to a park to play together! The kids immediately saw the playground and headed straight for the slides. I could see and hear the kids from where we were. We played a couple of holes before I noticed that another couple with kids at the playground was pushing our kids on the swings! Embarrassed that they felt they had to play with them because they were being neglected by their frisbee-golf-playing parents, I ran over to apologize and do my parental duty. The Dad said that he was pushing his own daughter when my son came over with such big sad eyes wanting to swing, too, and he couldn’t say no!

It turns out my kids can’t get enough of the playground. It’s one of our favorite things to do as a family because we can take the baby (keeping him covered in the car seat) and still let the kids run around. We’ve been to several different park playgrounds the past week and have plans to discover a few more. I like that they’re not crowded when we go right before bedtime or early in the morning, and that we have so many to choose from! Little Brother is getting so good at climbing, and he’s absolutely fearless no matter how tall the slides are. I’m so lucky that he has such a loving big sister who is right there playing with him, watching out for him while I feed or rock the baby on the sidelines.
