Baby’s First Easter
Some kind souls ding dong ditched us on Friday night, and drove away in a black car. Our lawn was covered in 70+ Easter eggs!! They also left a gift bag at the door with 3D printed eggs and goodies. The kids were SO excited to get their baskets out and go on a hunt in our yard since they missed the big neighborhood Easter egg event.

Our 10yo was given a 10 second head start, and our 8yo was given an 8 second head start. The group decided that F would go first since he usually has the hardest time finding eggs, and W would go after because he is usually way too good at finding eggs. They had the time of their lives scooping every colorful item they could find into their baskets!

L ended up with multiple 3D printed toys that her brothers wanted to trade her for. W opened all of his eggs immediately and sorted the contents for easy consumption. F surprised us all with the most eggs. We figured that using the biggest basket allowed him to shovel entire heaps of eggs in quickly.

Jer set the kids up to color eggs. They had such a good time coming up with combinations for the colors and “upgrading” their eggs haha. We had BLTs in pita bread for dinner which was so delicious!

Last night W was telling us that he got the same kinds of feelings that he gets at Christmas. I’m guessing it’s the anticipation and excitement of finding a surprise when he wakes up.
W woke me by letting me know I had 11 minutes left of my 15 minutes to get up, and that he had found several of his siblings’ eggs accidentally before even going downstairs. Jer and I just laughed at his enthusiasm.
The kids checked out their full Easter baskets in the morning.

Then the Egg Hunt began for all the plastic and colored eggs the kids dyed last night! It’s a good thing Jer counted the eggs beforehand because he did such a good job hiding them that at the end he was able to tell us we were missing 3. Lily found the last one the exact shade hiding amongst the dead flowers sitting on the kitchen counter.
I’d want to do this as my job when I grow up- hunting eggs.

Jer hated to break it to W, but hunting Easter eggs isn’t a legitimate job haha.
We were all shocked that F who usually takes the longest to find his eggs was the first to finish- that’s a first ever for him! He was finding his orange colored egg hidden with the little oranges fruits, and behind the TV, and on top of the salt shaker. W took a lot longer and we realized it’s because he was squinting trying to see without his glasses! Jer had to remind him that he’s blind without them haha, so he did much better after putting glasses on. L actually took the longest because it turns out she miscounted and already found them all haha. I think we as parents enjoy that we get to see them find eggs in tougher hiding spots as the kids grow older.

The boys loved their Easter shirts and new “newsboy cap” hats, and looked very dashing in them! I wish I got a pic of W in his entire church outfit; he is so handsome in it. I didn’t get to shop with Lily for a new twirly dress but that’s on my list.
The kids 3D eggs held glow in the dark 3D printed dragons which they adored and played with for hours after.
Jer surprised me that he set aside a big egg for me filled with my favorite Easter candy!

We enjoyed General Conference on this Easter Sunday and hearing messages about how Jesus Christ is the way and how He is risen! My love for my Savior is so strong. Every good thing in my life is because of Him and God. Every hard thing in my life is possible to overcome because of Him. I’m really grateful that we can enjoy our kids this week and spend more family time together during Spring Break.

Love, Kat
