Sleeping Beauty 4th Birthday Party
My daughter is in love with Sleeping Beauty, and asked for a cake with her favorite Princess on it. With a brand new baby still in the hospital, I didn’t have much time or resources to plan a big party. We tried to keep it simple yet special. I used her favorite color—pink, of course—and accented it with romantic hues of white, gold, and peach. Neutral colors are great since I already have a lot of party stuff in white to save on cost.
Sleeping Beauty Party Decorations
- Invitations: Since the party was so last minute, the invitations would never have been printed and mailed out in time! I designed the invitations and just texted them out. It was great for quick RSVP’ing, too! I’ve made it available on my shop here.
- Balloons: Nothing says “party” like balloons! They are easy to color coordinate for outdoor parties, and you don’t even need to use helium to make them shine. We have two large beautiful trees I like to string them up between to bring a festive feel relatively cheaply!
- Flowers: Since Sleeping Beauty is also Briar Rose, I wanted to have fresh flowers. My daughter loves them, and they look great in season. Several small arrangements in little cups or buckets would work, but I ended up picking up a bouquet at the grocery store and Costco for two large arrangements in simple glass vases.
- Cake Topper: To make the cake extra special, I purchased a small Sleeping Beauty doll dressed in a sparkly pink gown to use as the cake topper. I also decided to go with golden candles to tie it all together!
Sleeping Beauty Birthday Easy Party Food Ideas
- Cake: Our family dislikes most cake, except angel food cake! I wanted a new way of presenting it since we have angel food cake every birthday and I don’t want it to get old. This time I decided to frost the cake with whipped cream and strawberries, and then decorate it with fresh strawberries.
- Drinks: Since the colors were pink and gold, we could have gone with pink OR normal lemonade! It’s an easy drink that you can use your favorite drink mix for and just add some fresh cut lemons to make it fun!
- Desserts: I put a couple of drops of red food coloring in white melting chocolate, and dipped strawberries and homemade rice crispy treats in them! Some of them even ended up with golden sprinkles I borrowed, and I hear they turned out delicious. I also put out little flower-shaped bowls of white chocolate-dipped candies and nuts for the kids to create their own party favors and bring home in pink little bowls.
- Food: Summer is a great time for barbecues, so we brought a buffet-style burgers and hot dogs with all the fixings and condiments.
The kids and parents played at the pool before the party for the activity since that’s our daughter’s favorite thing in the world to do. She wore her new favorite gold and pink party dress that we bought together at a booth at the Farmer’s Market. White napkins, paper plates, and utensils we already had left over worked well. And there you have it! A birthday party in a pinch!
