Night Hike Geminid Meteor Shower
It’s been a year since we were supposed to do this Mother-Daughter date, but “better late than never”! The skies would be clear for the Geminid meteor shower, so we put on warm clothing, strapped on some head/chest lamps, and packed a hiking bag with some essentials: hot water in thermoses, hot chocolate packets, bread rolls to dip in our hot chocolate, and a picnic blanket.
We drove through our canyon to an open hiking trail that we know pretty well even in the dark. The familiarity and higher visibility without all the tree cover helped it not feel too scary.
Lily saw 5, and I saw 3! Shooting star looking meteors ☄️ We laughed and tried to focus on the sky as we looked up.
