Kids

Fall Soccer 2024

It’s been so fun this season seeing the kids grow in their skills and enjoying their teams. I’m glad Jer and I could divide and conquer, since many of the games overlapped or were at the same exact time. We have such good coaches that run regular practices and are encouraging and communicative with the kids.

The Defenders

Our kids have all followed in their father’s footsteps and are thriving playing defense positions on their teams. Jer tells them their job is to figure out where the ball will go and get the ball away from the goal. The ball should not get past you; if it does, you need to turn on Turbo Mode haha.

So proud of our girl giving her best! L is going for the ball all across the field even when she’s defense, and playing so well! Instead of being intimidated by boys who are bigger than her, she’s following through when they try to take the ball from her. Most of her kicks make contact with power (one time she knocked the glasses off a kid, whoops!). I love seeing this oddly aggressive side of her not being afraid to push back.

W got a special trophy from his coach that says “the Defender”. He loves sticking to the lines and having a clear objective. Wherever the ball is on the field, he’s in line watching where it will go so he can meet it. W still likes to goof off on the field, but he takes his position seriously especially where treats are concerned. Jer told him if he gets MVP then he will have ice cream- and he totally earned it!

What a game from Fletcher!! Please let him know I’m so proud of him! I always tell him haha but today he completely controlled the best player from the other team and that kid was good. […] I love his mentality of never quitting! Kudos for you too for educating such a caring and resilient kid! I appreciate y’all!

Coach Enciso

F said this season has been the best! I got so many action shots of him during games. He worked so hard on his soccer game and practices. Even when he was injured he walked it off and went back in there so tough. Their team finished the normal season undefeated at #1! And made it to the finals in the playoffs. I think F loved winning!

Parents vs Kids

Fletcher’s team had a Parents vs Kids game on a Saturday to celebrate a great season! We tied 5 to 5, and the boys beat us at the penalty box at the end. Those boys were so quick and tough! I’d have the ball in front of me and they’d come snatch it away in a flash. Fletcher and I went head to head a couple of times, and Jeremy played goalie and defense. W was not afraid of protecting the ball even against adults! This was my first time playing soccer ever, and it was so much fun to do so with my kids. L was at her own soccer practice and couldn’t join us. The boys had donuts afterwards.

3rd/4th Grade Fall 2024 Champions

UPDATE: Fletcher’s team won this season plus the playoffs! The last game was tied at 1 to 1, so they went into overtime- and they were neck and neck so it was a double overtime, and still nothing so they ended up with a shootout—their 5 best kickers and goalie vs our 5 best kickers and goalie, alternating. Fletcher’s team got the most points in that and took home trophies and a championship soccer ball. So proud of this kid!!

Easy Meals

Lots of “easy meals” this season since many nights we’re needing to eat dinner by 4:30pm shortly after everyone comes home from school.

Costco has been my go-to for convenient dinner options and I try to add some fiber or veggies. These organic pizza kits that we add our own toppings to have been my favorite this season!

Other easy meals we’ve done: Fish tacos (using fish sticks, shredded cabbage, and my homemade salsa verde), bagged salads, pre-marinated chicken that cooks in the oven while I make spinach rice, orange chicken (from the freezer section) with rice and broccoli, taco salad, stuffed bell peppers, instant pot macaroni and cheese with peas, meatloaf muffins with mashed potatoes, tikka masala (premade from Costco) with rice. Hopefully these ideas help for when this busy time of year comes!

Love, Kat
