Fletcher’s Nautical Baby Shower Brunch

Ahoy, It’s a Boy!

Many moons ago we were beyond psyched to find out we were having a baby boy and that our little girl was going to be a big sister! This adorable baby shower was given by my best friend Victoria, who is amazing in every way. I was scared and had zero clue about raising a boy, but with a little boy of her own she was there with support. This shower was so special to me because although plans took a very different turn, it was all about celebrating our baby.

A Nautical Baby Shower

A navy blue, yellow, and white baby shower seemed perfect! Baby was due in August, so we planned for the last day of May. It was set at my home for brunch so that guests didn’t need to block out their entire day to attend. Plus, breakfast foods made with Victoria’s magic are the best! I designed an origami sailboat invitation which was so fun and fancy to mail out and deliver.

Adjusting for a Preemie

Preemie Items

We didn’t know it at the time, but I would be on hospital bed rest the day of the baby shower, and my son would be born at only 30 weeks old—it kind of put a stop on the party plans haha! Victoria could have canceled, but she rescheduled for when I’d be home from the hospital. Baby was still in the NICU, which made for a unique experience since our guests wanted to know and see everything that was going on with him.

Many of our attendees hadn’t seen him at the hospital yet, so they got to “meet” him through photos. There were pictures from his last ultrasound (especially “it’s a boy!”), a photo of his isolette in the hospital, and our first time holding him as a family. We also displayed diapers he wore (which were so tiny they could fit a little doll), and his equally tiny hand and foot prints. I threw in some baby moccasins that I hoped he’d wear, and the blessing outfit that my husband wore when he was a baby which we planned to bless him in but he ended up outgrowing.

Nautical Baby Shower Brunch Menu

Quiche

Quiche and bacon-covered omelette muffins were made into little sailboats with toothpicks and paper! There were also blueberry muffins, banana bread, and various fruit (grapes, cantaloupe, bananas, etc.) to go with yogurt.

Victoria arranged these adorable little napkin and utensil sets with lifesavers and twine! It’s amazing what you can do for decorations with one pack of navy and white striped ribbon, and stuff around the house. This fresh flower arrangement with the blue bells and yellow mums fill me with joy.

Milk and blueberry pomegranate drinks were served with all blue partyware.

Sailboat Sugar Cookie Shower Favors

Victoria made these beautiful (and delicious!) sailboat sugar cookies with royal frosting as party favors, and then arranged them in a little trunk for guests to take home. She is so talented, these are too cute!

Opening Baby Shower Gifts

Big Sister was just as excited to open gifts as I was. Little boys come with such cute outfits, too! I was truly humbled and thankful for the thoughtful gifts we received.

Mary, Knapps, Leilani, Chalia, Ewers, Victoria

It warms my heart to be reminded of the faces of the amazing women who showed so much love and caring for me during this happy-crazy time in my life when there was so much unknown and seemingly no rest. I made it through because of their support and service towards me, and I will never forget it.
