Kids September Update
Soccer season is done and I’m so relieved! What with baby coming a lot earlier than expected, we’ve had some tender mercies including all our kids having the same coach so able to do practices together on Saturdays. The boys were on the same team this season so that was one more game consolidated each time. Then L’s games didn’t start until most of the boys season was done so there wasn’t too much overlap. Also our ward family and neighbors took care of dinner on our busiest nights for weeks and that really lightened our burden and helped the kids keep their sense of normalcy even with me gone most of the day.
Jer has been giving them extra love and attention: taking them to the library, going on one-on-one bike rides, taking them for a ride on the moped, having ice cream and dessert nights, popcorn and movie night, reading Jurassic Park with Lily, and having talks with them while they massage his back or step on his legs haha. I’m so lucky he’s such an awesome father.

Capri Sun is the serum of life. I play soccer and die, then Capri Sun brings me back.

L played several soccer positions this season. After she scored a goal as a defender, her coach put her with the midfielders and forwards (probably in the hopes that she’d do it again) so she got lots of practice running! She had some nice assists, too. We’re so proud of her!
She’s been loving her Art class in school and works really hard on her projects. I’ll have to post pics of her with her art. She made one using the letters of her name, and also did a drawing finishing the missing half of a Torn photo. Jer says she’s got her own style and is a true artist.
Lily and Jack have been having long talks on the phone and she was so comfortable and happy during their conversations. It’s means so much having old friends call and help us feel loved.

Walker lost 3 teeth in 2 weeks! He is rolling in the tooth fairy money. Most nights he sleeps in our bed with us, snuggled by Jer and keeping me warm, because pretty soon we won’t be able to do this in our little queen bed once baby comes home.
He’s been playing Legos every day, rebuilding all his ships. That, and playing chess with F or Dad.

W has been biking or scootering to/from school with F and a couple of friends, and Walker’s earned a few wounds trying to catch up to everyone. It was so sad seeing him come home all scraped up after not doing anything about his injuries during school! What a brave boy.

Here’s a conversation F had with Jer:
F: Dad you want to know something funny? We were playing soccer and all these people were chasing me.
J: Did you have the ball?
F: Yeah.
J: Were the girls chasing you?
F: Yeah, it was boys vs girls and even when I didn’t have the ball they still kept chasing me. The boys were shooting goals and the girls still chased me. I think I was the distractor.
J: 😏 Mmhmm, yeah it has nothing to do with how cute you are.
I laughed so much hearing this!
Fletcher had such a good time as a helper in the school cafeteria and he got a chef hat.
