Race Car Boys Birthday Party

Look at these cuties in their matching birthday outfits! This is my little buddy F’s absolutely favorite piece of clothing, so I’m glad he was able to wear it for his party. I couldn’t find any matching race car driver suits that would fit a baby during the blisteringly warm months (and believe me I looked), so I altered one. W’s baby jumper is actually a thick fleece-like material that I shortened the sleeves and hemmed the legs to help him ventilate better. Also one of the reasons we moved the party indoors!

Since our party theme is all about Lightning McQueen, we had to have some fun racing stuff! Our toy race car track made a neat display for our cupcakes.

I created all the matching Cars party printables:

  • 2×3 foot centerpiece backdrop of Lightning that doubled as a “pin the wheels on Lightning” game
  • 12 designs of cupcake toppers with both of their ages
  • Food and drink tent card labels
  • Activity card labels for “Pin the Wheels on Lightning” and “Car Wash”
  • Signs for “Welcome Race Fans!” (can be used for the starting line, entrance, or the spectator area) and “Pit Stop” for the party table
  • Toppers for small party favor bags.

Menu was simple kid-friendly food:

  • Dip Sticks (corn dogs)
  • Traffic Light Condiments (mustard and ketchup- you could maybe do relish or limes for green)
  • Organic Fuel (watermelon)
  • Spare Tire Cupcakes (chocolate cake, vanilla frosting with a mini Oreo and themed topper)
  • Coolant (lemonade)

Our guests got to choose a car to take home with baby-friendly “spare tires candy” (gummy lifesavers).

Race Car Party Activities

We set up a race course for the kids to play, then turned on some party music and they were off! There were chairs set up on the sidelines for “race fans” (aka adults) to sit and eat, watch, or chat while the kiddies zoomed about. We played “red light green light” with our flags from the party table, and whoever won got to be “it”. We did “pin the wheels on Lightning McQueen” which was fun for the kids since they got 2 chances because there were 2 wheels.

The boys had so much fun racing around with family and friends! Both of these boys are miracles and we are so thankful they have a birthday for us to celebrate them!
