Sister Outing & Snow Day
My sister came for a couple of days to help me declutter my basement (which we did, for like maybe an hour total because I. can’t. even.)… and we ended up having a bunch of mini sister dates. We did all my normal errands (walking the dog, carpooling, grocery shopping, etc.) haha, plus some special activity together.
Day 1 included us transferring her Nugget Couch to my house (she says “two is better than one”), and a trip to Costco. Because, of course. I got to imagine what it’d be like to literally walk there from home—a reality for her since it’s a stone throw from her balcony. We went to lunch at the best brunch place in town, and I got to see her extrovert strength in action as we talked with our server for probably a half hour learning all about McKenzie getting married 2 weeks ago, meeting her husband on a dating app, and that she now lives in my neighborhood and her family owns said brunch place.

The kids adored having their Aunt over, and spent much of their homework / chore time hanging out with her and showing her things rather than doing said chores haha. F got it in his head that he wanted to have a sleepover, and when that wasn’t going to happen his pillow got soaked with tears. Jer and I each came to comfort him, but it wasn’t until my sister said goodnight to him and cuddled that he was okay.
Power Outage

We had quite an adventure with a storm and power outage. Everyone was warm in bed despite lack of electricity. I made lunches and oatmeal by candlelight. There were big fat snowflakes after the power came back on just in time for school. We shuttled the kids to school in the snow while my sister admired all the snow covered trees and streets. It definitely felt like Christmas again. My sister was so excited to try shoveling the driveway 🤣 She did a great job!

Pride and Prejudice
I did not get any pics of this part probably because I was completely immersed. We had hot cocoa and a “Girls Day In” because I found out she had not yet experienced Pride and Prejudice (what?! How??!)—this gross oversight without question needed to be remedied immediately. Armed with chicken pot pie and apple strudel bites, we re-positioned the couch and let the magic begin. I told her it would be atmospheric and beautiful cinematography with sweeping landscapes and a gorgeous musical score. There were a few times I needed to pause and give context (such as why a young lady eloping without marriage would be scandalous enough to ruin all her sisters’ chances of marriage). My sister screamed with delight when the leads finally got together. I reveled in seeing her facial expressions and audible reactions to the Bennett family’s excitements in my personal favorite adaptation (2009) of one of the best Enemies to Lovers stories ever written. She couldn’t get enough afterwards!
Payson Main Street
There are some cool shops in town! We explored some local places for yummy smelling flowers, candles, the library (of course!), and a macaron as big as our faces! Just enough time to get our pesto focaccia lunch to go and pick up the kids at carpool.

Apartment Tour

My sis wanted to show the kids some of the cool things at her apartment community like the game room, pool area, patio lounging places, and for them to check out her new home. Her husband was so sweet to leave some Pokémon gifts for them! The kids basically ate all the berries and snacks she put in front of them haha and they were very sad to say goodbye. We’ll definitely have more time together soon- I’m really enjoying having her nearby!
Love, Kat
