Walker is 10 Months

Baby boy loves standing! He was smart enough to not just use furniture, but also climbed up onto the wall in the hallway so he could stand up. He’s started “helping” me do dishes by climbing onto the dishwasher and emptying the utensils from the bottom rack.

Baby now sits in his high chair, and picks up finger foods to eat them! He kind of skipped baby food and went right to stuff he could sink his tooth into—small soft pieces of bread and bananas are the favorites. He tried pancakes today! Black beans mushed up yesterday. It really helps that his 2nd baby tooth on the bottom is almost fully out, and that 2 sprouts on the top are forming. His gums are strong! I often get a feel for it when I’m trying to empty his mouth of something he’s chewing on that he found on the floor… sigh.

His favorite thing in the world is Mommy! After that, it’s being included with family activities, especially bath time and meals. If he sees Brother and Sister in the tub, he almost hyperventilates he’s so excited! Then he floats there and doesn’t mind getting water in his face or in his ears, like it’s spa day. His older brother taught him how to play with cars so he even does the sound effects! He also enjoys playing kitchen with his siblings so he can chew on all the play food.

He says “mama” regularly when he’s looking for me in the house or to get my undivided attention, and now he also says “dada” since he spent more time with Daddy over Spring Break.

Loves:

  • The dishwasher open
  • The bathroom door open
  • Bananas!
  • Bath time and showers
  • Peekaboo
  • Pulling Leaves off plants
  • Climbing up to the window and pulling on the blinds
  • Trying new foods

Dislikes:

  • Having anything he’s found on the floor taken away or pulled out of his mouth
  • Being held too high in the air
  • Mommy walking away
  • Waking up without Mommy
  • Anything without Mommy, really

We are just in love with our little boy. He feels both joy and sadness with such intensity. He is just the sweetest child, so trusting of Dad and Mom. As long as we’ve got him, he is fearless especially when it comes to being in the water and trying out new foods. He is so excited about his freedom and being able to get around! The month has just flown by and I know he will probably be walking soon at this rate. My baby is growing up too fast for me now. It’s almost time to give him his first haircut and I find myself procrastinating so that I can savor his baby face just a little longer.
