Walker is 7 Months

A Month of Firsts

This little boy is growing so fast! A couple of weeks ago he was just under 15 pounds and 5th percentile in weight. There has been plenty of excitement with the holidays, traveling and meeting family for the first time, as well as new milestones during his 6th month. He continues to have such a happy countenance (especially after he wakes from a nap) and is always making those around him smile. He’s started growling gruffly when he’s really angry, which is rare and makes us laugh anyway because he’s such a chill baby.

Here’s a look at some fun milestones.

Discovering Toes

We’ve decided that his love language might be touch because he loves kisses, hand holding, hugs, squeezes, being carried, and affection. He’s always grasping anything near him and figuring out that his hands and toes are an extension of him. He’s started to hang onto his toes! The toe touches are usually accompanied by making bubbles with his mouth. I am enjoying my squishy baby boy before he starts crawling, which looks like it will be any day now. He’s built solid, has strong legs, and is always practicing his crawling stance (you know, the head up, arched back, and tummy down with arms and legs firmly in position to shift any minute).

He was able to meet my side of the family for the first time, especially his Grandparents. It was also so special that this month he met his Great-Grandparents, too!He missed out on his first Christmas because he slept through the morning! Even after he woke up he didn’t really care for opening presents or checking out his stocking, but we did introduce him to some cool new board books and his new pop up toy. He used to tolerate being in his car seat for a while, but after we took our long road trip for Christmas he now hates being strapped into it! Baby also took his first (mini) train ride at Thunder Junction riding on Mama’s lap.

Teething and First Foods

We’re pretty sure he’s started teething since he’s been putting everything he possibly can in his mouth and is drooling constantly. Some days there is so much drool that his skin gets a little irritated by his chin. We tried baby food (sweet potatoes) a few weeks ago and I don’t think he’s quite ready yet but maybe soon. However, he loves banana flavored baby rice crackers! He’s becoming a night owl from staying up all night crying, eating, being active, and wanting to be held.
