Welcome Baby #4!

Baby Boy surprised us with his debut! 2lbs 6oz, very strong and feisty for his 28wks. Another adventure in the NICU for the next months so please pray for us. He looks so much like his older brother W! Mom is recovering well.

The attending doctor was surprised at his strong cry when she caught him! He is on a CPAP machine to help him breathe, which is expected in a baby so young. Little lungs developed outside the womb are more sensitive than those grown inside of Mom. He’s a bit of an escape artist (which tracks for how he was in utero!) because Jer said they had to strap him down to try to get stuff done. Baby likes sleeping with his arms up just like Mommy and siblings.

We were able to hold his hands and feet during one of his cares. The NICU nurse and staff are all impressed with how much fight he has in him, and tell us how very beautiful he is. Our nurse said baby was the calmest all day when Dad and Mom were there.

Mom was able to pump and get colostrum for him for when he’s ready to have some. His PICC line failed from his arm, so they will try again from a different position tomorrow so he can have the nutrition he needs to grow and thrive.

My Uncle David who I haven’t seen in many years happened to be in town and had not heard the news, so he was able to visit with us.

We are still deciding on the middle name, but Happy Birthday, Henry!!!
