Wintergeddon

We finally got snow after months of the warmest winter I’ve experienced in almost 20 years here. Although I’m from a warm place and the idea of “skipping” winter was appealing, it struck me as eerie and wrong that a mountainous area normally glittering with snow should be bare for so long.

The family was thrilled!!! Baby and I stayed cozy inside, but everyone else was itching to be out. Did I tell you my kids look forward to wearing their snow boots, and the cold weather feels refreshing to them instead of frigid? It seems that this high desert woman (me!) whose ancestors lived on a tropical island is raising a bunch of cold-blooded mountain people. We hope the snow keeps up so that Utah doesn’t end up with a too hot summer or a drought.

I told the boys they could have a snow day after school so that hot cocoa and a warm shower could follow. They excitedly agreed, then W spent 2 hours after school building a snow fort with his brother F.

The next day Jer took the boys to our favorite hill for sledding after school, and they had a blast! “Butts up!” Jer would tell them before they flew down the hill giggling in the inner tube. L stayed home with me and the baby. I was so excited to use the little bear snow suit (gifted by our friend Lorrie) for Baby’s first day out in the snow. My Baby Bear was so adorable!!!!!
