Year of Mother-Daughter Experiences 2025

Daughter is turning 14 this year! Not sure how, but our “Dates” become more fun every year and she has grown to expect and love these, and refuses to have them stop! I’ve put on my listening ears to notice what she gets excited about, expecting that her tastes will change through teenage-hood. Her interests are now: music, food, reading, and travel. Very familiar… I guess it’s easy to come up with dates for her when they are all things I would like to do, too!
I made tickets for her instead of hand-painted cards like in previous years. I digitally created and easily printed them for gifting in an envelope and with a calendar I found especially for her. I still used a spreadsheet to plan and budget for these experiences. For anything we haven’t paid for in full before gifting to her for Christmas, I set aside a budget every month for “Lily Dates”.

- We haven’t been to the movies (just us) since 2015 with Disney’s live action Cinderella, so I figured it’s time to enjoy the heart of summer movie season! Grab some snacks, movie tickets, and head to the theater for popcorn and a film.
- Keep cool this month and have dessert first! This is a busy month, so I wanted an easy date with lots of options.
- BONUS – Birthday RoadtripWe are spending a couple of days out of town to watch The Little Mermaid at Tuacahn Theater, eat out, sing along in the car, and maybe go swimming.

- SEP – “Let’s Go To The Mall”I wanted a throw-back date with some nostalgia! Get the full back-in-the-day experience window shopping, riding the escalator, wishing at the fountain, and eating at the food court! Then watch “Confessions of a Shopaholic”
- OCT – BakeryI needed an easy date that we could sit down, relax, and enjoy some carbs and sugar…
- NOV – Restaurant DateThis month we will have a special sit-down dining experience together! Somewhere we wouldn’t normally go. Juicy burgers? Mexican? Pasta? Up to her!
