Wildfires

The world feels like it’s on fire. Iron Fire southwest of Utah Lake still burns, and a new Cherry Fire joins it. It’s near enough for us to see smoke and flames from our house, but still far enough for us to prepare for an evacuation. One little change of the direction of the wind and it could easily make its way here.

We are getting emergency kits ready for an evacuation. Jer and I reviewed what we already have and ended up getting a bunch of other stuff. I was stuck for so long trying to come up with the perfect solution, but really I’m glad we finally just went for it and have something. Our needs have changed so much now that we have older kids, a Baby with medical needs, and animals to have kits for.

After each of us packed our emergency Go bags, we set aside a day to declutter the front closet as a family so there would be room to store them.

It is a major blessing to have a plan in place in the case of an emergency.
