Mini Golf Mother-Son Outing
Break is a perfect opportunity to take the kids out for one-on-one time. My active outdoorsy boy is so thoughtful and only included date ideas for at home, so I wanted to share a nostalgic experience with him outside while the weather was still warm.

We went to Scratch Mini Golf in Orem, an outdoor course nestled under the beautiful mountains, full of tall trees and lovely stony spaces with cascading waterscapes. F liked trying a game with getting a low score.
My favorite hole was one where you hit the ball up a slope to a little stream that carries the ball to the hole. I got that in one! F’s favorite one had 3 holes where the ball dropped to either the last hole or an interim hole. I think he liked the surprise and suspense of it the most because you never know which hole will lead where.
He said that the best part of playing was that we were equally bad 🤣 I don’t know, I managed to get maybe a hole-in-one thrice while we had to fish F’s golf ball out of the water twice, so… who’s to say? We laughed so much, breathed the fresh air and the lovely atmosphere, and took our time for a nice change. He said that the real thing is way better and more fun than golfing in a video game. It’s more challenging, too!

At first F thought that 18 holes was more than enough and he’d want to go home by the end. He loved playing mini golf so much that we ended up doing the second 18-hole course after a break with a soda treat. He said it was the best and we should go mini-golfing every month 😆
F’s Mini Golf Tips:
- Take Your Time. Concentrate.
- Do the math and check your angles. If you run into obstacles or setbacks change up your strategy, find a way around or through them.
- Know your ball, how much to tap it, how far it will go… more than your club.
- Don’t hit too hard.
I love this boy so much! I’m so glad we got to try mini golfing out under the most ideal conditions, especially when it seems like a lost art.
