Mother-Daughter Mini-Dates Fall 2026

L and I have had some impromptu one-on-one time lately. During General Conference we puzzled together. We’ve had late night strolls with the dog as she tells me all about her favorite Jonquil brothers books and the Pennydreadful series. I love spending time with my daughter especially now that she’s so busy and gets to be with Jer all day at school.

Here are some things we’ve been up to.

Witches Night Out

We really looked forward to dressing up for this and it took several switches of hats, jackets, and shoes to get to this lol. L and I put on our witchy outfits for a night out including dinner, Bingo (with prizes!), pumpkin crafts, and chatting with friends in the neighborhood. What a fun church activity! I sampled each of the soups and enjoyed the caramel apple station with melted white chocolate and toffee bits!

Late Night Treat

I’ve been dropping her off and picking her up from “Sweater events”, which are the school activities she attends and supports as a part of Student Council. We stopped off at Macey’s late one night and had some sushi and a Japanese sweet drink together. I wanted something fresh, and she wanted an excuse for me to do that haha. She insisted that even though Dad made something at home, he would be happy I ate.

Our food choices reminded us of how much we miss my parents, who love serving homemade sushi and have a whole fridge full of these specialty drinks.

Choir Concert

L had a showcase at school for choir in a program called “Let It Shine”. Jer and I had to decide which of us should go or stay home with the baby, and I got to see L perform. I could hear our daughter’s beautiful voice ring true through all of her songs! This is such an impressive choir show, very professional. I had goosebumps. Our girl works so hard; I see her emotion and feeling as she’s singing. Love watching her so much! I had the best time and it sounded so good. All of the songs were uplifting about God, light, kindness, hope, etc I cried from feeling the spirit. She was so beautiful I could see her each time front and center fully lit, I was so happy!!

Seeking Persephone

One of the regency books L and I read separately by Sarah M. Eden years ago was recently adapted into a film! I knew she would enjoy watching it with me only a few minutes in, so we waited until after school to watch the episodes in parts. The boys ended up joining us until over an hour past bedtime!

We saved the ending for another night. Jer watched the baby so that L and I could sneak downstairs to eat ice cream and watch the final episode. We topped our dessert with pomegranate seeds in honor of the Persephone myth. We might have finished off a couple more waffle cones, too, for good measure.

Love, Kat
