Picnic Mother-Daughter Date
L and I were having an impromptu sleepover when we woke up in the middle of the early morning and started laughing our heads off planning this picnic. It’s been overdue since June, but better late than never? We went shopping together for some of our special treats and she chose the almond pastries and cinnamon popcorn chips. Not knowing what the weather would be like, we thought to pack homemade tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. Our plans kept getting pushed and changed for a few days, until finally we couldn’t wait anymore because it seemed like the last warm day of the year. I had to skip the tomato soup to make sure this happened!
The picnic was amazing on the top of a hill overlooking the Payson temple and the valley below along with orchards and the mountains. We laughed a lot, she told me she’d like to someday live in a place a lot like this (not a beach or the arctic, but mountains and that nippy fall). We played on the swings after stuffing ourselves with delicious treats, and she showed me up with how high she could go. It’s always been her favorite at the playground since she was a baby, and in flashing moments she looks exactly the same with that wide grin and the giggly laugh. I love her so much.
