Halloween 2024
Pumpkin Carving
Trick or Treating
I’m glad that I still get to take the kids trick or treating! We had to adapt some of our Hobbit / LOTR costumes for colder weather since it snowed. I brought a big basket that came in handy for whatever the boys didn’t want to carry or towards the end of the night when stuff was falling out of their candy containers.
L went with friends for the first time. We did eventually bump into her!
Can I just say that our neighborhood is AMAZING at Halloween??? Many clowns and larger than life skeletons at this year’s neighborhood decorations.
Here are some of the things our friends and neighbors did besides decorations, lights, smoke machines, and decked out porches…
A candy cannon that shoots out candy the kids go long to collect scattered on the lawn like a piñata.
One of the streets had a big potluck on a driveway with everything from peach cobbler to drinks and a smokeless fire pit so people could hang out.
Fresh street tacos made by a neighbor who owns a catering company. Homemade hot cocoa using real melted chocolate. Cotton candy made right in front of you. A hot chocolate bar with toppings and treats (she made 130+ pumpkin cookies!).
A table or shelf full of toys, stuffies, full sized candy, donuts, stickers, and treats for kids to choose from.
Spook alleys and glow in the dark treasures.
We enjoyed hanging out with our neighbors!
We ended the night with bowls of chili for dinner. The boys counted and traded Pokémon cards with each other. Since the night started off early this year with the cold weather, we ended by 9pm! L stayed up late with us watching an episode of “The X Files”—I love being able to party with her like this now that she is a teenager 🙂 It was such a fun night!
Until next year, Kat
