Henry is 11 Months
At 11 months old (8 months adjusted) Baby Henry weighs 7.67kg (16lbs 14oz). This little goof is a hoot! He loves to play and especially blow raspberries or spit. He laughs at funny faces and all the teasing Jer does with him, even having his entire face smooshed into a Squishy Face.
Henry has been trying solids. We haven’t had luck with baby food. Instead, he sits in his high chair at the dinner table with us and we put a sample of food in a silicone teether or special feeder spoon for him. We have a bag of cut celery and large carrot sticks ready to give him a hard munchable if I need a break from the mess.
Oranges are his #1 favorite so far. He got super upset and burst into a straight up tantrum when we had to take away the orange carcass from him after he squished it up and sucked the juice. He’s also tried massaman curry potatoes, mango, mashed potato, chicken noodle soup, gyro meat, peanut butter, Greek yogurt, tomatoes, pineapple, strawberries, eggs, and Cheerios.
He is sitting up like a pro especially in the bath! It’s getting more difficult to change his diaper while he rolls or crawls away.
Zoom Zoom
So much has happened. I’m quaking in my Mom pants at the developments.
#1. This kid learned how to crawl, and fast. He zooms. That was a week ago (July 13) when he all of a sudden knew how to. After going the full length of the 9ft rug trying to put everything in his mouth, he hasn’t stopped since. I have not started childproofing.
#2. He is trying to learn to walk, and for the most part figuring it out. I can’t even stop him.
#3. Minutes ago he learned how to stand up in his crib. I had major flashbacks to W longingly looking at all the things he wanted to climb and reach. It also means we can’t leave him in the crib safely anymore.
Sensory Exploration
Baby Henry loves knocking down the towers, fleets of ships, and other objects from magnet tiles and blocks that his brothers make for him. He used to like hanging with them in the “building pit”. Now he breaks out of the barricades, screams at being confined to the jumper, cries at being placed in the crib or car seat if something exciting isn’t happening immediately afterwards… I’m running out of options.
Thankfully the kids have taken this toy building set out, which has wooden screws and tools for him to chomp on and experiment with.
He enjoys reading books (or maybe just opening and shutting the covers over and over).
Baby is becoming more of a stomach sleeper and I often need to roll him back over during his night feeds so that his G-tube site doesn’t get too much weight or pressure.
