Walker’s 9th Birthday
Our little guy is not so little anymore! He still loves figuring out how things work and coming up with designs. Lately it’s been which paper airplane designs will fly furthest, and how he’d make a bottle rocket. Which armor and weapons would work well? How does iron float? He likes to test things out and use a lot of tape!
One thing that hasn’t changed —still the biggest sweet tooth for this kid. He asked for donuts with homemade English muffin sandwiches for his birthday breakfast. We spent the time at the breakfast table contemplating the history of sandwiches and researching it via internet search!

W was so excited to go to the local Pool for his birthday. It must be his favorite way to celebrate because he asked to go to the pool last year, too, (and here) but this time they went to a pool closer to home. W wished we could all be together but it was just Jer and the older kids while I stayed home with Baby Henry.

He was able to go on the water slides depending on whether the lifeguard thought he was tall enough and whether L helped his hair stand higher 🤣 . If he has to be hot, then he wants to be soaked or playing with water!

We had a special dinner that Jer put together after hours of sun with the kids. W switched his choice to hot wings after his older brother had them for his birthday dinner, and W was so excited to be having them for his own birthday. We got Dad’s root beer for him since it was the closest we could get to his favorite drink (Dad’s cream soda).
W opened presents including a Big Boy watch that he can set timers and alarms with, figurines he picked out at a game store to paint and use for the game Star Wars Legions, and laser tag guns (thank you Uncle Wilee and Aunt Chalia!).
We finished the night with a beautiful pistachio cheesecake we bought on impulse at Costco while W was shopping with me the day prior. It turned out delicious, so good choice W!
He asked us if he could sleep with us in our bed for his birthday, and how could we say no? Lol he had such a big day that he was knocked out before I did all of Baby’s bedtime routine.
Happy birthday my dearest son!
Love, Mom
