Fletcher’s 10th Birthday

It’s Birthdays Week at our house, and sadly for Fletcher he was sick on his birthday. It’s been a decade of life for this lovable kid! My Fletcher. Ten years ago he was born such a surprise and has been a joy in our family ever since. His smile and positivity is infectious. He is the very best and kindest brother who takes time to make sure he loves the people he cares about. He always makes you feel special or like you’re the only person in the world when you’re together. Ever since he was little he has always been gentle and caring with people and animals- comforting, loving, and inclusive. His imagination is so strong and I love his comics, stories, drawings, dreams, games, and music he creates and shares with us. I’m often amazed at his deep and profound thoughts, and that he feels the spirit so strongly. He is always moving quickly and getting songs stuck in our heads! We have the most fun with Fletcher, and I am forever grateful to have another year to see him grow into a big kid! I LOVE YOU, FLETCHER!

Not only was the Birthday Boy sick, but his Dad was gone working so F didn’t take it so well at first. Jer made a special chorizo breakfast for him before leaving for work, and then the kids and I made our way to the reservoir playground on their bikes and me with the dog. We didn’t want to exert him too much. He did the obstacle course, though! As soon as Jer came home, F was able to open his presents and he was super happy. He got enough controllers to be able to play with friends, and a new game that even big sis L was into Super Smash Bros. They played for hours and I could hear them screaming with excitement upstairs while Jer made him bbq chicken thighs on the grill, and Dutch oven potatoes for dinner. The Birthday Boy wanted ice cream sundae in a waffle bowl instead of cake, and chose his flavors at the store. Mint chocolate chip and rocky road.

Love you forever, kiddo. -Mom
