Let’s Go to the Mall Mother-Daughter Date
After my first Ultrasound that L was able to attend along with my sister, the lunch place we wanted to eat at happened to be at the Mall. Since Baby is due around the time our Mall Activity is supposed to happen, we decided to seize the day and make it a date! My sister was able to join us and encourage us to do things I would not have done, like go into a Claire’s!
The mall was unfortunately a bit dilapidated and empty, which was the first difference from when these used to be the best places to shop “back in the day”. After a little ride on the obligatory escalators, our first stop was the Food Court! The gyros were fabulous at King Kebob’s! Then a treat place caught our eye with the large sign “Mangos”. At Señor Mangos, we ordered a La Bonita in the largest size which came with 3 scoops of ice cream (one for each lady)! We each got to choose a flavor and happily shared. Topped with strawberries, kiwis, mangoes, coconut, granola, sweet crème and wafers / cookie straw. The ice cream was especially flavorful—guava impressively tastes just like authentic guava (instead of strawberry flavor) because it’s made with the real actual fruit. Worth the price for this quality!

We found a lovely book store that we spent way too much time in browsing, lazing about in their various seating arrangements, peeking into their rare books archive, doing word searches on the wooden scrabble tile floors, and admiring all the Mini Books from a dispenser! L decided not to buy any books, but she did get a mini book with the cover of Treasure Island and merrily brought it home.
There was just enough time left to look through Claire’s, and my sister tried to tempt L to have her ears pierced. She’s already almost age 14 and still not into earrings, but who knows about the future? L had the best time shopping around, and my sister and I had so much fun laughing with her!

Love, Kat
