July 4th Taking It Easy

Today we celebrate our liberties and freedoms, and are so grateful for our country and homeland America. Jer woke up at 3am to make breakfast sandwiches to pack with us for our early morning traditional hike. It’s my sister’s first Independence Day in Utah, so we spent the day together. We picked her up and then woke up our best friends who live near the trail head, and hung out on the porch and around their property to see the changes in their pomegranate. Hike early in the morning to see the air balloons launch; it was too windy for them to take off. Skipping fireworks this year since I have such limited energy these days (enough for one Big Activity), and we have Walker’s baptism and luncheon tomorrow morning so I’m trying not to stay out late or burn out.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

The Declaration of Independence

We had root dutch oven for dinner with Mediterranean chicken, then root beer floats. My sister and her husband watched the movie Willow with us for the first time, and were able to stay the night with us. Jer and I cleaned the kitchen and started on the pulled pork for tomorrow.
