Hobbit Feast

What About Elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon Tea? Dinner? Supper?

Pippin

Our friends the Dunns and Winchesters invited us to welcome the Autumn season at a Hobbit Feast and Renaissance Festival! A potluck on tables was spread with roasted vegetables, breads, cheeses, fruit, ribs and meats, and sweets. Jer made a delicious potato soup with toppings, and we brought some cranberry walnut bread. Guests were encouraged to dress up for the event, so of course we obliged and will likely be Hobbits for Halloween.

Drinks were made to order at a pub set up with friends dressed as bar maids. Talented musicians played live Lord of the Rings songs and requested tunes on unusual Irish instruments and a harp. The kids played until sundown in the large bounce house, play set, archery station, jousting areas, and with all the animals in the yard.

Where our hearts truly lie is in peace and quiet and good tilled earth. For all Hobbits share a love of things that grow.

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

Thorin, The Hobbit – J.R.R. Tolkien

We saw many old friends we have not seen in a while- some for years. We got to dance together after being super full and a stomach sloshing with Phoenix Flame haha.
