Dog Days of January

This week it’s been a consistent early morning flurry getting the dog out to potty—1am, 2am, 5am. The poor dog seems to be having stress induced colitis again. I’m a walking zombie, and thankful Jer has been cleaning the dog diarrhea from the flooring. I still need to tackle the laundry it’s created.

The kids’ activities have picked up, so my nights have been filled with driving L to and from extra rehearsals for Honors Orchestra, attending meetings, and doing dishes at 11pm.

Jer got sick just before returning to work from Christmas vacation, and has just now improved on the coughing. His recovery has been slow since he hasn’t been sleeping well at night. I’ve been going back to grocery shopping, meal planning, and a lot of the cooking; although there are days I get burned out despite my plans for dinner and Jer ends up taking over for me. I love that my partner is a true team player when I can’t do it all.

My friend Kathryn called these the Dog Days of January. A time of stagnation, misfortune, and unrest as we’re slowly driven mad lol. We just need to get over the slump!
